2026 PPQG North American Wildlife Challenge
2026 PPQG Challenge Quilt “American Wildlife” Rules: Use your imagination and style. Quilt must be no larger than 60” X 60” Quilt must have a 4” hanging sleeve Artist statement due in November. Quilts are due in December. Display and judging at December meetings Quilts will be displayed at the MidAtlantic Quilt Show in March 2027 Cost: $5 Sign-up with Cathy Fowler at meetings or via email. Monthly Opportunities
Block of the Month
There will be a packet every month for a block. You bring the block back next month and there will be a drawing for the blocks. The cost is $5.00 each month for the packet. See Gina Vivian's wonderful display of the next month's block at the meetings.
Free Table
If you are destashing or reorganizing, bring your surplus for the free table. No fabric pieces smaller than a fat quarter, unless they are jellyroll strips. Items should be clean and in good condition. Patterns and magazines welcome. If you bring an item and it is not claimed, please take the item back with you. There is no storage from one meeting to the next for items left on the free table. If you bring items, be sure to sign the list of participants.
Honor Quilts
Quilts are donated to Riverside Hospital for Veterans in Hospice care and the Veteran's Administration in Hampton. Lap quilts to large quilts would be appreciated. (Wheelchair quilts too! 36 x 42")
Honor Quilts has kits for mug rugs and other small items. Please see Joy Leitz. or Shirley Land.
Library
Monthly Mini
Every month a guild member(s) volunteers to supply a small project to the monthly minis. Raffle tickets are sold to members attending the meeting and the winner takes the project home.
Small Service Projects
PPQG Small Service Projects support Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughter (CHKD) and Riverside Hospitals by donating baby to lap size quilts and developmental fabric hearts.
Suggested sizes for donation quilts are as follows:
Baby: up to 30” x 40”, incubator baby quilts are much smaller (?? size recommended)
Crib: 36” x 56”
Throw/Lap: 50” x 65”
Larger quilts will be accepted.
Developmental Fabric Hearts:
Mothers of NICU babies wear the fabric hearts against their body so they absorb her scent. The hearts are then placed in the incubator so that the baby will become familiar with their mother’s scent. The pattern is on our resource page.
UFOs
2026 UFO Challenge Sign ups for this year's UFO Challenge continue! An UFOs (UnFinished Object) is a project you need some extra motivation to finish! Join the growing number of fellow quilters in this fun challenge and have a chance to win a prize along the way! Select up to five UFOs. One completed UFO will be due at a guild meeting in the months of March, May, July, September, and November. Complete rules are on the back of the sign up form where you identify your UFOs. You can sign up at a meeting for just $5!!! Cash or check. Please remember to turn in your form and keep a copy or picture for yourself. First completed project needs to be brought to either of the March meetings. A LABEL is required for project to be complete (paper labels accepted for donated items). Each time you complete a UFO, your name is entered in the raffle for that month. UFO Coordinators: Barb Rutan, Jean and Megan Bailey.
